Update from 10/26/2022:
“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” continues to move at the top of the Netflix charts. Now the chain can cost the streaming provider dearly. Because, as the British newspaper “The Sun” reported, Lionel Dahmer, the father of the serial killer, is considering filing a lawsuit.
A supervisor for the 86-year-old explained to the medium that Netflix had not contacted the family beforehand and that some events were simply misrepresented. The success of the series would also have made Lionel a nervous wreck, but there was no money. “Everyone says that if there is no prior correspondence, you want to hurt someone. Lionel’s health was not given the slightest attention,” the manager said.
Lawyers are currently investigating whether legal action will be taken against the production company or Netflix itself.
The series “Dahmer” reached the first place in the charts of the “Netflix” series, but at the same time it caused media outrage – the comments on Instagram are divided. On the one hand, fans are excited about the execution, above all by the “Dahmer” actor Evan Peters, but at the same time people are also disturbed by such brutal and disgusting acts being shown on TV – hence based on a true story. One commented, “I couldn’t really watch the series. I’ve tried four times and always turn it off after a few minutes. Seems like it was meant to be brutal. American TV has gone bad.”
The Empress stars reveal: This is how season two continues!
With the series “The Empress”, Netflix is launching its own show…
The Killer series shows no regard for the family members of the victims
The intent to show brutality without any further concerns is now being criticized by a family member of a real Dahmer victim via Twitter. Rita Isbel is the sister of Errol Lindsey who was horribly murdered. During a court hearing, she suffered a nervous breakdown and verbally attacked Jeffrey Dahmer and security had to stop her.
Her cousin Eric Tholho speaks on her behalf when he accuses Netflix of having to produce a chain of tragic events like this and the suffering of relatives – without taking into account the feelings and motivations of the victims: “I don’t tell anyone what he/I know true crime shows are popular these days, but if you care, Really with the victims, my family (Isbells) is pissed off with this show, it keeps reviving the trauma and why? How many movies/series/documentaries?”
I’m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you’re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell’s) are pissed about this show. It’s retraumatizing over and over again, and for what? How many movies/shows/documentaries do we need? https://t.co/CRQjXWAvjx

Even under the comments on Instagram, users share their concerns about the victims’ consideration: “I hope the victims’ families get a share of the show’s earnings for the traumatic experiences this series is causing them!”
Netflix has not yet commented on the criticism. Instead, the next “Dahmer” production has already been announced in the new Netflix releases. Jeffrey Dahmer: Self-Portrait of a Serial Killer, another sequel documenting the killer’s brutal exploits, will be released in October.
The ‘Dahmer’ series can no longer be found in the ‘LGBTQ’ section
What Netflix has already responded to is the justified criticism of saving the true crime series under the “LGBTQ” label. Dahmer himself was gay, like most of his victims. However, the series has nothing to do with variety. When Netflix users searched for a show about LGBTQ Day and came across this true crime series, it could be very upsetting, they say. Netflix immediately changed this and the show can no longer be found under the tag.
