Legendary FCK goalkeepers from Ehrmann to Raab – Football

Goalkeeper Matthew Raab leaves 1. Kaiserslautern. Rap played a huge role in the rise of FCK this year. But he’s not the only goalkeeper who formed FCK. Photo review.




Goalkeeper Matteo Raab leaves 1. FC Kaiserslautern instead of Hamburger SV. Rapp joined the Third Division team in July 2020. Previously, he played for the second FCK team. The 23-year-old played a total of 34 matches in the third division and kept 16 clean sheets. He has been one of the undisputed top performers this season. Thanks to what was saved, FCK collected a number of points in the fight for promotion.

Lennart Grill: For the 2016/17 season, he transferred to FCK in the first youth team. After the professional team’s relegation to the third tier in 2018, Grill became the substitute goalkeeper behind Jan-Ole Sivers until he was declared a regular goalkeeper. The goalkeeper played 51 clean sheets and 15 matches in the third division with the Palatinate. Grill moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for the 2020/21 season.

Marius Muller: A goalkeeper who played for Kaiserslautern in his youth. In 2014, he made his debut at the Fortuna Dusseldorf stadium. After the departure of Tobias Seipel, he subsequently became the number one goalkeeper. After the 2016/17 season, he transferred to RB Leipzig, only to return between positions at FCK a year later. Muller played 32 of the 34 League Two matches in 2018/19; He eventually moved up with Palatinate to the bottom of the table in League Three.

Tobias Sippel: Played as a goalkeeper for FCK since 1998 and was part of the professional team from the 2006/07 season. Like many of his predecessors, he was trained by legendary Lutheran goalkeeper Jerry Ehrman. In 2010, he climbed to the Bundesliga with Kaiserslautern. Since he was often sidelined due to injury, Sibel shared the place as first goalkeeper with Kevin Trapp. Tobias Seibel moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach for the 2015/16 season.

Kevin Trapp: The current European Cup champion from Eintracht Frankfurt was once among the positions in the FCK. Kevin Trapp played 37 games, eight of them without conceding a goal. Previously, he was a goalkeeper in U19 and U17 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. For the 2012-13 season he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, who was recently promoted to the Bundesliga.

Florian Frommlowitz: A player who was a goalkeeper for the Palatinate team when he was young. He earned his first professional contract with the 1st team of 1. FCK at Regionalliga Süd. For the 2007/2008 season he was the first-team goalkeeper, although his rival Jürgen Machu had completed all league matches the previous season and was named Lotterer’s Player of the Year. After his injury was broken by a torn cruciate ligament, Frumlowitz moved to Hannover 96.

Tim Weese: He played for 1. FC Kaiserslautern for five years. When he came to FCK for the 2001/02 season, he knocked out first goalkeeper George Koch. But in the 2004/05 season, Fezzi ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee at the end of the first half of the season and was out for the rest of the season. Then he moved to Werder Bremen.

Roman Weidenfeller: Weidenfeller has only scored for three clubs during his career. Espachtal, Kaiserslautern and Borussia Dortmund. In 1999 he was awarded a professional contract with Palatinate, was a substitute goalkeeper for the first team and was also the first goalkeeper for the amateur team until 2001. In 2002, Weidenfeller moved to Dortmund, where he remained a regular player in the BVB in the Bundesliga until 2018.

Andreas Rinke: During the 1994/1995 season, Rinke replaced 35-year-old Jerry Ehrmann. The 53-year-old has fought a lot with FCK: the first relegation in Bundesliga history, winning the DFB Cup in 1996 and moving up again and the German Championship in 1998. Rinke scored in 31 of 34 matches in the tournament year. In the summer of 2000, Andreas Rink left FFC and moved to Iraklis Thessaloniki.

Jerry Ehrman: He accompanied FC Kaiserslautern 1. Jerry Ehrman as a goalkeeper for 14 years. During this time he played 294 matches in the German Bundesliga and nine matches in the Second Bundesliga. He achieved his biggest success in 1991 when he became German Champion with FCK. Already at the end of his time as a player he became a goalkeeper coach. In February 2020 there was an ugly chapter. After about two years he returned to FCK as a youth coach.
