Sasa Kalajdzic’s future is the first topic of conversation about him
VFP Stuttgart. Athletic director Sven Mislintat still has the framework for next season.
Sven Mislintat seems relieved. The fact that there will be one or two notable transfers at FC Stuttgart this summer has been on the surface for a long time. Sasa Kalajdzic, Borna Sosa and Uriel Mangala have been considered as candidates for the change for weeks. At least one of the three players is likely to leave the Swabian Bundesliga. More likely exits.
The defender must come
The case of Calagdes in particular is a subject of debate. According to Mislintat, none of the parties involved took the issue of courtship with the Austrian seriously. The sporting director himself is looking for a defender.
Hope to extend Kalajdzic
Sell or extend is the mislintat emblem of national striker Calajdic. “We still hope he stays,” said the 49-year-old. “There is also a statement from Sasa that he will not leave us on a free transfer – also with the aim of the support he received from us. This means: if there is no change this summer, we have a legitimate hope that it will be very extended again.”
Kalajdzic’s contract with VfB runs until June 30, 2023. In addition to FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and other top clubs from abroad are said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old. The striker has netted 24 goals in the tournament in his three years in Stuttgart so far, but has also been let down several times by serious injuries.
He himself left his future open earlier in the week. “There won’t be a quick shot,” Kalajic said at the Austrian national team’s training camp in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. “Nothing is impossible, I am open to everything.”
Is Sasa Calajditch going? And if so, when and where? Who can inherit the striker position? What will happen to Omar Marmoush? There are currently many unanswered questions about the VfB Stuttgart attack. Obviously, patience is required.
Sosa and Mangala are changing candidates too
Separation seems more likely than stay in VfB. In addition to Calajdic, full-back Borna Sosa (contract until 2025) and midfielder Aurel Mangala (contract until 2024) have been traded as change candidates for weeks. It is believed that Croatian Sosa should now also be on Dortmund’s squad.
Mislantat: ‘We don’t have to sell all three’
It is no secret that the Swabians, who have been hit financially hard by the Corona crisis, can use new money from player transfers. “The truth is, we don’t have to sell all three,” Mislintat emphasized. “And we haven’t received a concrete offer from any club for any of the three. We feel comfortable with that. We have specific price expectations for all three.”
At Kalajdzic, the transfer fee required for Stuttgart should be around 30 million euros. With Sosa, there are 25, with Belgium international Mangala 20 million euros in the room.
scaffolding has been lifted
The framework that Mislintat and VfB want to rely on in the new season, apart from this trio, is now in place: among others, goalkeeper Florian Muller, defenders Valdemar Anton, Konstantinos Mavrobanos and Hiroki Eto’o, midfielders Wataru Endo and Atakan Karazor , and Enzo. Milllot and Naouirou Ahamada as well as offensive players Silas Katompa Mvumpa, Tiago Tomás and Chris Führich. The return of the last loaned Omar Marmoush, whose contract with Wolfsburg expires on June 30, 2023, is unlikely.
Misslintat is currently looking for a versatile defensive man. But the Westphalians don’t get frantic either.
