It’s often easy for smokers to put the gaps aside. Apps can always provide motivation when you stop.
Every smoker already knows the dangers, but for many it is very difficult to finally give up a cigarette. According to the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA), around 127,000 people still die each year in Germany as a result of tobacco consumption.
“Too many people still die in Germany as a result of smoking. The environment also suffers from pollutants – from toxic waste, pollution of drinking water to secondhand smoke pollution,” Burkhard Pleinert, 56, explains in a press release.
As part of World No Tobacco Day 2022, which falls on May 31, the Federal Government Commissioner for Addictions and Drugs explained: “Tobacco is not only harmful to your health, but also to the health of children or partners who live in smoking homes…so who if you want To make an effective and valuable contribution to yourself and your environment, quit smoking!”
Incidentally, BZgA does not believe in switching to e-cigarettes or tobacco heaters, because consumption is also associated with health risks and studies have not confirmed any effect on smoking cessation. With QuitNow, users always have many stats on display. Once the user enters data – such as the time they quit or how many cigarettes they have previously smoked in the day – the app calculates. It shows, for example, how many days have passed since quitting, how much money the user has saved or how his health is gradually improving. There is also access to the community, for example – and achievements that the user unlocks when they reach a certain broker goal.
QuitNow is basically free, but has limited functionality. Anyone who pays monthly or annually for the Pro version gets, among other things, more achievements, can plan their own goals and turn off integrated ads.
In the case of competitor ‘Quit’, users initially indicate, among other things, whether they have already given up cigarettes or wish to quit smoking gradually. Here too, users can sometimes see how many cigarettes they have and how much money they have saved over time. They can keep track of their goals, gradually increasing the level like in a video game and making a diary, for example, when the craving for oddities was especially strong last time.
Kwit is also free in its basic version. However, the full range of functions is only available with a monthly or yearly subscription. Users can also use it to monitor the use of e-cigarettes or nicotine patches.
The universal application among the applications of addiction and bad habits is “Quitzilla”, because the program is not limited to cigarettes. Users can recall statistics about a variety of addiction types, including not only smoking, but also behavior when watching TV, playing video games, or dealing with alcohol, sugar or coffee.
Like the other two apps, “Quitzilla” is basically free. However, a monthly or yearly subscription for the entire domain is also required. Then it is possible, for example, to register only more than two classes at the same time.
