Children in the wake of the Corona crisis are fatter and less fit

According to parents, the Corona pandemic has had a negative impact on the eating and exercise behavior of many children and youth. According to a survey conducted by the German Obesity Association (DAG), many minors have gained so much weight in the past two years that they eat less healthily and are less fit. According to the survey, every sixth child in Germany has become fatter since the beginning of the epidemic, about half are moving less than before, and about a quarter are eating more sweets. “We’ve never seen weight gain to the extent that we’ve seen since the beginning of the pandemic. This is concerning, as being overweight can lead to high blood pressure, fatty liver, or diabetes in children and adolescents,” said DAG spokeswoman Susan Wehrauch. -blue.

No more sick leave over the phone starting tomorrow

As of tomorrow, sick leave due to mild cold symptoms will no longer be possible with just a phone call. For this purpose, patients have to return to the doctor’s office or use the hours of video consultations, the Federal Joint Commission for Physicians, Clinics and Health Insurance Companies announced. The current development of the corona epidemic is allowing the special regulation, which has been extended several times, to expire. If the epidemic accelerates again, these special regulations could be reactivated in certain regions or nationwide. Since the end of March 2020, it has been possible to write satisfactory notes over the phone almost continuously. This should reduce unnecessary contacts to reduce the risk of infection.

Italy cancels entry rules for Corona

From June 1, proof of third generation will not be required when entering Italy. According to the State Department, when the previous regulation expires, it will not be necessary to prove vaccination against corona, cure or negative test on entry. Italy was the first European country to be infected with the Coronavirus in early 2020. In the context of the pandemic, the government has imposed some very stringent Corona requirements compared to other EU countries. Among other things, all employees in the workplace were required to provide a corona vaccination, recovery or negative test. Most of the corona measures have now been lifted as the vaccination campaign progresses. Masks are currently still mandatory in schools and on public transportation.

Global Medical Chief Montgomery warns of the spread of variant BA.5

The President of the World Medical Association, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, has warned of the spread of the Omicron variant BA.5 of the Coronavirus in Germany. “Corona is not over yet – and this is proven by the violent outbreak of Omicron in Portugal,” said Montgomery of the Rheinische Post. The Robert Koch Institute recently reported an increase in omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 at low levels. BA.2 continues to dominate with 96.4 percent. BA.5’s share nearly doubled from 1.2 to 2.5 percent. “The smarter we behave, the less drastic measures we need in the fall and winter. Voluntarily wear a mask, wherever many people gather. Vaccinate, now more than ever! And don’t play freedom against security,” Montgomery student. BA.5 will also spread in Germany. Many people – including those who have been vaccinated – will become ill. However, those who have been vaccinated experience milder symptoms. Under the Infection Protection Act, the toolbox must be maintained and clearly identified nationwide — from the obligation to wear a mask to lockdown, according to the global medical chief.

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach had already spoken with a warning. “The particularly contagious BA4/BA5 version is on the rise here too. This could be the next wave in the fall,” the SPD politician wrote on Twitter.

Schleswig-Holstein: A large number of cases are probably due to public holidays and bridge days

The incidence of aura in Schleswig-Holstein continued to decrease. The value is currently 326.7 – after 335.6 on Friday, according to information from the Government Registration Office. A week ago, the infection rate was 462.6. 4,032 new cases were reported, up from 3,692 the previous week. The currently high number may be related to the extended weekend of Ascension Day – late registrations from public holidays, bridging days, and weekends. According to the Robert Koch Institute, Schleswig-Holstein still has the highest seven-day incidence rate in the interstate comparison.

RKI: 61,889 new coronavirus cases reported nationwide – 201.7 . incidence

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence nationwide as 201.7. The day before, the value of new infections per 100,000 residents and the week was 189.0 (previous week: 307.2, previous month: 717.4). Germany’s health authorities reported 61,889 new coronavirus cases in the RKI (previous week: 64,437 recorded) and 136 deaths (previous week: 159) within one day.

Data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late registrations, or transmission problems. In general, the number of new infections and deaths recorded varies greatly from day to day, as more and more federal states do not transfer to the RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
