Four candidates for the elections in Delitzsch
Who enters? Incumbent Manfred Wilde, challenger Uwe Bernhard, challenger Jens Muller and right-wing activist Hagen Grill, want to become mayor of Delic. The office is designed for seven years. Wilde, 59, is not a party member and has been at OBM since 2008. He is currently in his second term and aiming to win for the third time. Challenger and Free Voters Chairman Uwe Bernhardt (59) has decades of management experience and currently heads the Leipzig registry. State-certified educator and entrepreneur Jens Muller (42) is supported by the SPD, Left and Greens coalition. Hagen Grill (38) stands for “Together for Delitzsch” and is a right-wing activist.
Delitzsch: nearly 21,000 eligible voters
Who can vote? 20,887 Delitzscher men and women are eligible to vote on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Eligible voters who are registered in the Electoral Register always receive an election notification card for the election in which they are entitled to vote. Delitzscher residents who are eligible to vote had this card in their mailbox a few weeks ago. The election notice also applies to a second ballot that may become necessary. Candidates can withdraw their nomination for a second ballot until Friday, June 3, at 6 p.m.

16 polling stations in Delitzsch
When and where do the elections take place? In Sunday’s elections, those entitled to vote can vote in their polling station between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The polling station is indicated on the ballot paper. There are 16 polling stations, eight of which are in the city center and eight in the counties. Half of the polling stations are free of obstacles. Most of those eligible to vote – ie 2477 – are invited to vote in the polling room at the Vocational School Center. The Laue Community Center is the polling station in the smallest constituency – 165 eligible voters can cast their ballots there for the OBM election. 153 election workers are working on Sunday. What about postal voting? Ballot letters must reach City Hall by 6 p.m. on Election Day on Sunday at the latest.
When do elections end or when are they needed? If no applicant obtains more than half of the valid votes (absolute majority), a second ballot is required. In the second ballot, whoever gets the largest whole number of votes (relative majority) is elected. If there is a tie, the lottery is decided. A possible second ballot will take place on 12 June 2022. On 12 June 2022, the District Director of North Saxony will also be elected.

If there is a second round of voting in the mayoral election in Delitzsch, postal voters in particular are called upon to keep an eye on the short response time. The city administration notes that the tight schedule is due to the postponement of the first poll. At the request of the AfD, Delitzsch city council voted by almost a majority last October to postpone the election dates for Lord Mayor in Delitzsch in 2022, thus setting May 29 as the election date instead of June 12 as planned and recommended. Saxon Ministry of the Interior – This separate designation causes costs of €25,000 in Delitzsch.

LVZ provides information on election events on Sunday, and a provisional result and classification will be published on Sunday evening at www.lvz.de/lokales/nordsachsen/delitzsch/. The election results will be announced orally at the meeting of the Municipal Election Commission on May 30, 2022, at 3 p.m., and on a notice board at the Town Hall.
