Here you will find current information on the transition of Ukrainian refugees to the SGB II

From June 1, 2022, Ukrainian refugees are entitled to basic protection in accordance with SGB II. This means that the responsibility of people who have fled Ukraine may change from this time. Those who are eligible for benefits under SGB II are entitled to advice and support from the Job Centre.

When are Ukrainian refugees entitled to basic security under SGB II?

Persons must meet the following requirements:

Having a bogus certificate or residence permit in accordance with Section 24 (1) of the Residence Act (AufenthG)

If this document is not yet available, the Department of Immigration and Integration remains responsible.

What does basic security include under SGB II?

There is an entitlement to a living allowance (including health insurance). In addition, accommodation and heating costs and the costs of an initial set of furniture and services may be covered from the Education and Participation Package.

Eligible people have access to all funding and qualification offers, such as language courses. You will be instructed on work integration, training and recognition of professional qualifications.

What do Ukrainian refugees already receiving benefits under AsylblG do now?

In order to make the transition as easy as possible for Ukrainians in Wuppertal, the city and the Employment Center in Wuppertal have agreed on the following procedure:

All Ukrainian refugees who already have a dummy certificate or residence permit in accordance with Article 24 (1) of the Residence Act are invited by the Employment Center. At a personal appointment, the application for benefits in accordance with SGB II is registered and the further procedure is discussed.

What happens if I don’t get an appointment at the Labor Office until June 2022?

Until the transfer to the duty station is completed, the persons concerned will continue to receive economic assistance from the Department of Immigration and Integration according to AsylblG. This means that subsistence is also guaranteed in the transitional period until the basic security application is submitted to the duty station and benefits are paid. More Support Needed – Interpreters!

Many Wuppertal residents have already volunteered for Ukrainian refugees over the past few weeks, for example by helping as interpreters during registration at the integration home.

If you have skills in the Ukrainian or Russian language and would like to participate as an interpreter for Ukrainian refugees, please contact the staff of the Counseling and Coordination Center of the Wuppertal Employment Center. They coordinate the use of interpreters when placing a new order and look forward to your support.
