KLB Gesundheitsforschung Lübeck GmbH is looking for asthmatic patients to conduct a study to verify the safety and efficacy of the drug being studied in relation to the ability to exercise.
Lubeck | Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that can affect people of all ages. Most people with asthma can live completely without symptoms with the use of the sprays and inhalers that are available. The primary treatment is to treat the primary infection. This is usually done with mild cortisone-derived medications, with which none of the dreaded side effects occur. In addition, shortness of breath is improved by antispasmodic drugs. In the case of persistent symptoms, so-called “biological agents” have also been available for treatment for several years, specifically reducing the subjective causes of asthma.
Experts recommend exercising
Exercise and physical activity are among the most important non-pharmacological treatments for asthma today. Sports increases endurance, strengthens the respiratory muscles, and trusts the flexibility of the individual. Experts advise asthma patients to exercise regularly and participate in sports lung groups. Competitive sports are also possible under certain conditions.
Before starting training, consult your physician regarding the type of sport, the frequency of training, the limitation of exercise, and the taking of “emergency medication” in the event of an asthma attack.
KLB Health Research collects studies
The extent to which small, regular exercise improves lung disease has been researched for many years in studies using pedometers, exercise apps, fitness bands, activity-determination questionnaires, and stress tests, for example on a bike (an effort meter). In Lübeck, KLB Health Research has dedicated itself to this topic.
Patients who wish to participate in such studies can expect focused care at KLB. Special examinations are often performed that are not possible in normal practice and provide additional information on the course of the disease. Please call 0451 – 7078300 to see if you are eligible for such a study.
The goal is to provide better care to all people with asthma so that no one continues to have shortness of breath and a dry cough and can exercise.
Study participants wanted
Asthma can make it difficult to exercise. Exercise is important to health, but people with asthma often can’t do as much as they’d like. KLB Gesundheitsforschung Lübeck GmbH is looking for asthmatic patients to conduct a study to verify the safety and efficacy of the drug being studied in relation to the ability to exercise. You may be eligible to participate in this study if you meet all of the following criteria:
- Their ages range from 18 to 55 years.
- You take asthma medication every day, but you are otherwise healthy.
- They do not currently smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, chew tobacco, or have stopped using any of these substances in the past six months.
- You are ready to ride the exercise bike.
If you would like to find out more about this study, please contact the KLB Gesundheitsforschung Lübeck GmbH directly at 0451707 8300 or arrange a non-binding consultation appointment via the homepage.
