DUsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – Last year, nearly half (47 percent) of hard coal imports into North Rhine-Westphalia came from Russia. The state has delivered a total of 7.7 million tons of briquettes and hard coal worth €831.2 million to NRW, Düsseldorf’s state statistics office announced on Friday. Hard coal shipments accounted for 16% of the total value of their goods imported to NRW for Russia.

According to the information, a total of 16.3 million tons of hard coal were imported into North Rhine-Westphalia last year. It is followed by Australia with 3 million tons and the United States of America with 2.7 million tons in second and third place among the importing countries. During this period, North Rhine-Westphalia exported a total of 199,000 tons of hard coal and hard coal briquettes to other countries. The main customers are Belgium, Holland and France.
