According to studies conducted by an expert, it is difficult for sports and sports to help you lose weight.

Eat less and exercise less. So far, this has been the basic principle of successful weight loss. However, according to a recent study, sports should not do anything to lose weight.

As temperatures rise, many begin the “bikini shape” project. Because in a tight summer dress or bathing suit, it’s hard to hide a few extra pounds that have been nourished. Sports Jogging, cycling, and exercise are an essential building block for losing pounds. At least that has been the case so far. A study now explains that losing weight through exercise is a myth. Why is this true and why movement is still important.

Exercise isn’t supposed to help you lose weight

In his study, “Burning: New Research Blows the Lid – How We Really Burn Calories, Lose Weight, and Stay Healthy,” American anthropologist Hermann Pontzer explains that exercise and sports do not lead to increased calorie consumption for driving. Therefore, it is not possible to lose weight. According to metabolic expert analyzes, people who engage in a lot of physical activity do not need more energy than those who spend their days inactive. In his opinion diet is the most important factor in losing weight. This was reported by Frankfurter Rundschau with reference to the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

This is how Pontzer justifies his considerations: If you exercise, you burn energy. Now the logical assumption is that the body needs more energy per day as a result. However, according to the scientist, this is wrong. His investigations showed that energy in the body is distributed differently.

Assumption: The body balances energy consumption

This was demonstrated, among other things, in a previous study of the energy consumption of the Hadassah, an ethnic group in East Africa that walks several kilometers per day – women an average of 8 km, and men 14. Calorie consumption was found to be almost no different from that in other lower parts activity in the world. In the study published in 2012, Ponzer concluded that “in general, Hadza men and women burn about the same amount of energy each day as men and women in the United States, as well as in Europe, Russia, and Japan.”

The anthropologist is not alone on this note. For example, Loyola University Chicago epidemiologist Amy Locke has found that women farmers in West Africa burn as many calories as women in Chicago. She used the same method that Pontzer used in her work, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

Pontzer finds that when exercising, the body reduces energy to perform other tasks in the body: “Instead of increasing the number of calories burned per day, the physical activity of the Hudas changed the way they burned calories.”

In another study, the scientist, along with a scientific team, observed marathon runners who ran 42.6 kilometers six times a week over 140 days. They found that the energy requirements of the runners at the start of the race were about 6,200 calories. In a later context, the demand for energy decreased. In the end it was 4900 calories. From this, the experts concluded that the body freed up the ability to meet energy demands during operation and saved it elsewhere, as reported by spiegel.de.

However, exercise and sports are important for health

From a medical point of view, movement is a true elixir of life. Regular and moderate training helps keep the immune system working. The body makes more immune cells that protect against infection. Sports also strengthen the heart and muscles and break down fat. This reduces the risks of high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Bones also benefit from regular exercise. Moderate strength exercises help build the supporting muscles around the spine for example, and thus help prevent back pain. People who exercise less often experience stress-related headaches and sleep disturbances.
